Meet Our Executive Leadership Team
Bing Liang, PhD
Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Bing Liang is the Charles P. McQuaid Professor of Finance at Isenberg School of Management, University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
He is one of the leading experts in the field of hedge funds. Over the course of 25 years, Professor Liang has published 44 papers which have been downloaded over 48,000 times. He has received numerous research awards and his papers have been cited by the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, The Economist, Business Week, Forbes, and Barron's.
Professor Liang served as a panelist for the SEC’s Roundtable on Hedge Funds in 2003. His papers have been presented at the U.S. House of Congress Financial Services Committee in 2007. He has served as an expert witness for cases including the Bernie Madoff Security Fraud Court Case (2009) and has served as a Senior Risk Advisor at Entrust Global, a leading hedge fund company with $19.7 billion AUM.
Professor Liang received his Ph.D. in Finance from University of Iowa in 1995, and MS in Applied Statistics from Chinese Academy of Science in 1985.
Ellen Yan, PhD
Co-Founder and Chief Financial Officer
Dr. Ellen Yan has over 25 years of experience in the finance industry. She served as an Economist in the research department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland and was a Vice President and Portfolio Risk Manager at National City Corporation as well as a Vice President/Senior Quantitative Analyst at KeyCorp. Dr. Ellen Yan has also served as a Senior Research Consultant at The Hartford Insurance and a Market Director at Travelers Insurance. Dr. Yan’s expertise covers quantitative analysis and financial modeling, including hedge fund performance analysis, hedge fund factor-based modeling, credit risk modeling, operational risk modeling, investment portfolio management, asset allocation, business forecasting.
Dr. Yan holds a Ph.D. in Financial Economics from the University of Iowa (1996), M.S. in Finance from the University of Iowa (1991), and a B.S. in Management Information System from the People’s University of China (1986).
Reece Liang
Director and Chief Operating Officer
Reece Liang is currently the US Head of Technology at JLL and B&E's Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Liang has over a decade's experience working with financial institutions in varying capacities. Mr. Liang worked as a Consultant at the Analysis Group where he advised on the unwinding and pricing of illiquid securities for the Lehman Bankruptcy, resulting in a favorable settlement for the client and custodian bank. Reece has also worked as a strategist at Goldman Sachs in New York City in the Global Markets Division where he leveraged advanced analytics to inform and improve fixed income market share by 10% year-on-year. Reece has extensive organizational experience building companies from the ground up, advising and building Afterskills Limited, an education technology company based in London. Mr. Liang's expertise includes data analytics, statistical modelling, strategy, and sales management.
Mr. Liang received a B.A from Swarthmore College in Economics (2013) and an MBA from London Business School (2021).
Mina Liang
Director and Head of Business Development
Mina Liang is the co-founder of award-winning micro-mobility startup ReneCycle and an incoming investment banking analyst at Evercore Partners. Passionate about the intersection of private markets and operational strategy, she has held a variety of analytical roles across investment banks, startups, and early-stage venture. Mina joined as the first summer analyst class with Silicon Valley Bank’s Technology Investment Banking team, modeling pro-forma gross margin improvement for B2B software clients, conducting analysis on precedent transactions. As a venture capital analyst for Binney Street Capital, Mina tracked and calculated equity-positions for Dana Farber startups using SEC files and licensing agreements - extracting investment insights for fund partners ranging from contingency clauses to stakeholder networks. As the Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer for ReneCycle, Mina led the team to eventually roll out bikeshare pilot programs across universities which serviced 5,000+ students.
Mina graduated with honors from Deerfield Academy in (2019) and is fulfilling her B.A. in Financial Economics at Columbia University (2024).
